Katie McGarry is the owner and dance director of Jeté Dance Centre.  She is excited to lead a rapidly growing dance studio in the Northwest Metro where proper technique and a fun atmosphere unite.

Like many mothers, Katie’s mother signed her up for dance when she was only three years old.  Little did she know, it would become Katie’s passion in life.  Katie started competing in duets at four years old and in solos at age five.  She studied jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, musical theater, and hip hop throughout her childhood and into her adult years.

Katie began assisting classes at age nine and by 13 she was teaching and choreographing for her own classes.  She continued teaching after high school while attending North Hennepin Community College and St. Cloud State University.  Katie graduated from college with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education and spent time teaching in the Sauk Rapids-Rice and Elk River School Districts.

 Katie’s favorite dance memories include:  dancing at the opening ceremonies at the Mall of America, dancing in the XXVI Super Bowl Halftime Show with Gloria Estefan, and winning high awards at dance competitions and conventions including a scholarship from LA Dance Force.  She excelled as the Head Dance Team coach for Sauk Rapids-Rice Dance Team when the team earned it’s way to the State Competition.  She is proud of how hard her students work and the top honors her students have earned at national dance competitions including Showstopper, Showbiz Talent, Prime Time and Starquest.

 Katie is a passionate and energetic teacher who sincerely cares about each student.  Students and their parents rave about her attention to detail and technique.  She is a developed choreographer and her years of training in elementary education give her knowledge about appropriate expectations for each age level as well as positive behavior management.  Katie looks forward to sharing a fun and exciting year with all of you at Jeté Dance Centre.
